Heather Hensell, Ed.D. – Provost

Dr. Hensell serves as the Provost for Remington College. She taught both online and face-to-face for 12 years prior to joining Remington College in August of 2017. Heather earned her doctorate in higher education leadership from Gwynedd Mercy University and has a master’s degree in philosophy from the University of North Texas, a master’s degree in family studies from Texas Woman’s University, and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and psychology from the University of North Texas. When she’s not cheering on the students at Remington College, Heather enjoys reading and instant film photography. She’s currently working on her first creative non-fiction short story and hopes to begin a Master of Fine Arts program in creative non-fiction in 2022.

Jon Daniels – Director of Campus Administration of Remington College Online and Knoxville

Jonathon Daniels is an U.S. Army Veteran – served in Operation Iraqi Freedom I, II and III. He is a two time Army Commendation Medal Recipient. Jon is married and the father of five children. He has worked in higher education for 16 years. Originally from Southern Illinois, an avid sports fan, Jon played college baseball and was scouted by Red Sox, Cardinals, Cubs and Braves.

Karla Griffin

Karla LaNette Griffin was born and raised in St. Louis, MO. Karla has been married to the love of her life, Aaron for 3 years and the proud mother of 7 children (5 step-children and 2 biological children). When she is not working Karla is a Professional Singer and Baker.

In her own words, “I love what I do, I enjoy seeing the students and encouraging the students to continue to go for their goals ‘DON’T QUIT ALWAYS FINISH WHAT YOU STARTED’ the feeling that you’ve finished and reached your goal is the greatest feeling in the world.

Carmen McNabb

Ms. McNabb has been employed with Remington College since 2013. As a Program Director, Ms. McNabb is highly competent and energetic. She brings 21 years of experience from the field of education and 18 years of a Medical background. This medical background experience ranges from Geriatric Care to Obstetrics, where she was employed at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa Oklahoma.

A professional with passion and expertise to promote the Program’s impact, sustainability, and visibility. She oversees and manages all aspects of the program operations for Allied Health, with a focus on education, proctoring, mentoring, fundraising, communications, personnel supervision, and most importantly, student success.

Tory Watkins

Tory has been married 6 years to a wonderful man named Charles. She has two beautiful children, a boy named Elias who is 7 and a little girl named Lillian who is 6. Tory is currently working as a Lab Technician at TotalCare ER. She is furthering her education pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree at UTA. To top it all off, Tory served her country with distinction for four years in the United States Marine Corps!

I am honored to recommend Ms. Tory Watkins for consideration as Student of the Year. She was a student of mine throughout her training in the Medical Assistant program at Remington College.

Tory’s attendance was near-perfect. I could count on her to be in class daily. She was prepared for class daily and completed all assignments given to her. Ms. Watkins was well liked by her classmates and functioned well in a team environment. Tory has an infectious personality which draws others to her. She often assisted her classmates with subject matter of a more difficult or complex nature. Tory possesses a knack for breaking down complex topics in manner that are easily understood. She is a highly motivated person with a basic desire to help others. I commend her for her efforts to increase her knowledge and go further to make a greater difference in people’s lives. During our time together she grew in both knowledge and technical skill.

Ms. Tory Watkins has many qualities that would make her a valuable asset to any team. Her positive attitude, infectious personality and desire to succeed make her the perfect candidate for this award.

Commencement Speaker

Dr. Rose VanAlstine – Director of Campus Administration

Dr. Van Alstine grew up in California and joined the military after high school. She spent 10 years in the Army and afterwards moved to Orlando Florida. She started my career as a special education teacher and after several years, moved to career education. Dr. Van Alstine has two cats and a dog and enjoy puzzles.

She has spent the last 10 years in higher education and have held various positions. She have a Bachelor of Science degree from Campbell University, a Master’s Degree in Education from University of Phoenix, and a doctorate degree from University of Phoenix.
